About the World Entertainment Organization

In 1952, a number of individuals and organizations from around the world founded the World Leisure Organization, a non-governmental, non-profit organization that advocates for the preservation of leisure time as an integral part of sustainable social, cultural, economic, and environmental development.

The World Entertainment Organization’s most valuable partnership is its recognition by the United Nations as a consultative organization under the United Nations Economic and Social Council. This recognition has provided the World Entertainment Organization with support from the United Nations and its partners.

The World Entertainment Organization is keen to emphasize that well-chosen entertainment experiences improve the quality of life for everyone, and their impact extends from childhood to future generations.

We attract our members from all over the world and from diverse interest areas including travel and tourism, parks and recreation services, arts and culture, sports, health and fitness, entertainment centers, and educational institutions.

World Entertainment Organization Goals

The World Entertainment Organization seeks to affirm that entertainment can support the creation of a global civil society because it is an integral part of sustainable social, cultural, economic and environmental development and the well-being of individuals, communities and nations. It aims to:

  • Achieving the well-being of individuals, communities and nations through entertainment.
  • Promote and understand the benefits of leisure time.
  • Promoting access and inclusion for all.

The World Entertainment Organization views entertainment as a uniquely human activity, born of freedom, justice, and enlightened character, based on goodwill among all people. Entertainment is characterized by the pursuit of satisfaction, pleasure, and discovery.

World Entertainment Organization Policies

Leisure plays a fundamental role in individual, community, and national development and contributes to improving the quality of life. Therefore, the World Leisure Organization seeks to strengthen social relationships and social capital as a place for expression and participation in democratic life. Thus, the World Leisure Organization points out in its general policy that leisure time is a truly important space for preparing citizens for social and voluntary participation, as well as for expressing solidarity and a sense of belonging. International Entertainment Organization Services

The World Entertainment Organization achieves its mission, vision, and goals through its programs and activities, which are developed according to four main axes: advocacy, research, education, and knowledge transfer.

  • The invitation

The World Leisure Organization promotes leisure time and defends the prevailing image of leisure time by publishing reports, statistical data, academic studies and research, as well as raising awareness of laws, model legislation, and scientific facts related to the benefits of leisure time.

  • Promote research

The World Leisure Foundation seeks to enhance the relationship between leisure and the concept of identity, the process of transformation, and the ways in which leisure contributes to the enhancement of the human condition, through research and scholarly activities.

  • Expanding educational opportunities

To provide educational opportunities and other learning spaces that focus on the ways in which leisure contributes to identity formation, transformation, and the betterment of the human condition.

  • Promote knowledge transfer

To disseminate and disseminate research outcomes through various educational events and publications, and to provide opportunities for exchange and participation for academics, professionals, and citizens.
